Colorado Trip with Toddler & Dog
We took our very first official family trip with our dog to Colorado.
Here’s a breakdown of our trip:
Flight Details: Fort Lauderdale > ATL > DEN Airport
Transportation: Took shuttle from airport to get a rental
Hotel: Home2 Suites by Hilton Denver West/Federal - pet friendly accommodation.

If you’re looking to find out what to do in Colorado with a 3 year old. This is what we did!
We had breakfast at the hotel to save cost and time. We walked our dog before starting the day. Our dog, Sushi, is a true homebody and doesn’t need much outside time. We are very lucky to have such a chill dog like her!
We try our best to maintain our routine - that means we schedule in nap time when planning our day.
ITINERARY
First day: Colorado Railroad Museum & Dinosaur Ridge
Second day: Colorado Railbike Adventures
Third day: Unplanned/Spontaneous day
Fourth Day: Leadville Railroad
Fifth Day: Travel Home
What works for us is having a day to rest and recuperate. Traveling can take a toll on our toddler and baby dog. It’s so much easier to finish the trip with ease.
Perhaps this rough guideline itinerary can help you plan your trip!
